13 Spades

This is a question maybe Jonas or Dan can answer or maybe someone else......A player in Gnomes claims to have recieved 13 spades 3 times in HW......however it didnt make any sense the way he said he played it out.....he claimed each hand had to be played for all 13 spades....I told him I thought that after the first card was trumped it would tell you to TRAM.....he denied this and since I have never recieved 13 spades in one hand I cant say for sure but logic would tell me that you could tram after first card played.....can anyone clarify this and does anyone know if anyone has ever gotten 13 spades in HW?...........

I don't know Spades' rules, but it makes sense if spades is always the trump suit that it would be a TRAM. I know hearts well, and as long as some other suit is not lead (i.e., the 2 of clubs) such that he can't take the trick, he will take every trick. In fact, seems he should take all tricks or no tricks (depending on the rules) since no one else can lead a spade.

I have had some doozy deals before, but in HW hearts, I have never had a hand of 13 be all one suit, nor been dealt a TRAM.

I have never seen 13 spades but after 1st one was played it should of TRAM'ed. I know it does in every other kind situation like that.

Thanks Sailing and Dust....Im pretty sure it would be a TRAM as well.....it would have to be.....perhaps he was mistaken.....thanks for the input......

The chances of someone getting 13 spades (or any specific 13 cards) is pretty astronomical. One would be an once in a lifetime experience, (actually more I suppose) so 3, I would really be surprised.

Thanks Jonas I figured it would have to be pretty dang hard to get....I have never seen it happen in 8 years.....and you would be able to tram as well....came close to 13 spades several times but close only counts with hand grenades and darts.....heh....thanks for the input all.....

I may have seen it once or twice in real life (atleast I think I have or wished to have it so hard it did in my happen) and NEVER online cards.

Like Primal said I've had hands that there was no losers, first trick... TRAM in both spades and hearts, euchre I don't count it happens often.

The rarity is very true. At the same time, the following is true:

The chance of getting 13 Spades is no greater or less than the chance of getting every other hand that you see when you open up your cards.. 1 out of about 635 billion.

So, each time that you play a hand of Spades, be sure to appreciate the incredible nature of the hand that you were dealt.
