Detective Work

Hi there! If you are the first to solve all three of these mysteries, you will an autographed copy of "The Complete Win At Spades" and 2 new decks of playing cards. (Earliest post with the three correct answers wins).

Three Mysteries:

Mystery one

A man was found murdered Sunday morning. His wife immediately called the
police. The police questioned the wife and staff and got these answers:

The wife said she was sleeping.
The cook was preparing breakfast.
The gardener was gathering vegetables.
The maid was getting the mail.
The butler was polishing shoes in the pantry.

The police instantly arrested the murderer. Who did it and how did they
know?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mystery two

A man (real human being) walks into his bathroom and shoots himself right between the eyes using a real gun with real bullets.
He walks out alive, with no blood anywhere and no, he didn't miss and he wasn't Superman or any other crusader wearing a cape.

How did he do this?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Mystery three

Old Mr. Teddy was found dead in his study by Mr. Fiend. Mr. Fiend
recounted his dismal discovery to the police:

"I was walking by Mr. Teddy's house when I thought I would just pop in for a visit. I noticed his study light was on and I decided to peek in from the outside to see if he was in there.
There was frost on the window, so I had to wipe it away to see inside.
That is when I saw his body. So I kicked in the front door to confirm my suspicions of foul play. I called the police immediately afterward."

The officer immediately arrested Mr. Fiend for the murder of Mr. Teddy.

How did he know Mr. Fiend was lying?

OK, you "Sherlocks" - Do your thing!

There is no mail delivery on Sunday. It was the maid.

He shot his reflection in the mirror.

You can't wipe frost off of a window.

If right, I will pass on the prize being that I already have enjoyed receiving those items.

I agree the Maid did #1 no mail Sunday

and with #2 only way to do it unless his name is Idiot, wrote it on the mirror and shot between the "I"

You would scrape frost from a window, the other thing that is Suspicious is the fact if it was a friend why would he call him Mr. Teddy. Alos the fact why would you go to someones window to "peek in" rather than try the door first and ring the bell or knock. An why wouldn't he call police before trying to enter the home seeing it was a "BODY" and how would he know that he was dead in the first place.

JUST DUST

A man had a enclosed in a room built around him, with no doors or windows. He had a chair and a mirror in the room.

How did he escape?

HINT: this is mathematically possible. And the answer to this question was the only way we were able to take weekend leave from duty.

1. The maid.
2. In the mirror.
3. The frost would be inside, not outside.
Just some thoughts from me.

Nick.

The man escaped by riding away on the "horse".

There is often frost on the outside of windows in the winter, at least in the houses in which I have lived.

"Detective Quiz"

1. It was the Maid. She said she was getting the mail but there is no mail delivery on Sunday.

2. He shot his reflection in the bathroom mirror.

3 Frost forms inside of the window, not the outside. So Mr. Fiend could
not have wiped it off to discover Mr. Teddy's body.

Good job Galt. You were the first to identify the answers.

I liked your comments, "Dust"

Actually, Joe, according to your answers I did not get the frost one correct.

I do maintain, however, that under certain weather conditions frost can form on the outside of a window.

It is true that if condensation freezes on the inside of a window it will cause frost. However, you gotta be keeping your house pretty cold for that too happen. I haven't seen that in a long time.

In Colorado we get these freak weather changes where it can be warm and moist one minute and freezing the next. That happened this past winter and I couldn't see out of our office window for a few hours due to all of the frost on the outside of it.

ok how about this there is no ceiling (or top) so he puts the chair in the corner, stands on it and uses the mirror to see how to open the wall (screws or whatever is on the outside) reaches over, undoes it and can then get down push it open and walk out.

LOL I'm tryingggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg
