Re: Still No 7's. Is anyone actually listening??

Nah, all good players expect you to block. I've never heard that it's considered rude.
Exsessive--yes. Compulsive--definitely. Paranoia--sometimes. Wearisome--as a rule. Overrated--for sure! A wasted point--way too many. Brilliant--on occasion. But rude--no.

Re: The G with some Basics.

Scenario # 2. i would lead the Ace of hearts or the 9 of spades, although the 9 of trump won't take a trick Pat, you have two off aces and they could well figure in the finish. This is a generalization and i hope it helps a little. Ps that have Paired for many games together probably have a strateg...

Nope, we are unloved. We are the neglected stepchild. We don't ask for much, we don't get much.

Re: The G with some Basics.

Replays are invaluable tools. Robby just made an amazing loner. I had to watch the replay. Upcard was coming to me, it was a bower, the Jack of Hearts. Watching the replay, by removing the avetars I can see that he had in his hand the Ace of Hearts, the rest of the Aces with a King and with that --...

Re: The G with some Basics.

Players trying to learn need to crawl before they walk [/size]--and shouldn't think too much about ordering your opponent with JK off Ace or crossing with Q10 off Ace. If you are still trying to get out of the 15/16/1700s, stick with calling more than you are used to, try to call next more than cro...

Re: Hi everyone

Yes, I know.

I was speaking of a different scenerio, thus the words, 'I love it when...' :)

I didn't feel a need to fill in all the blanks.

Re: Standardised Win/Loss Ratings for Provis

I couldn't agree more!

Whats more, the server has the ability to tell the difference between new players and a newly created nic, so this is already supported in the programming.

Re: Standardised Win/Loss Ratings for Provis

You guys have no idea the way it was before You'd be surprised how long some players have been on this site. The very notion that the provi system has been changed before says that people (namely programmers and designers of the site) get things wrong sometimes, and experiment with different things...

Re: Standardised Win/Loss Ratings for Provis

You guys have no idea the way it was before. The provisional rating was so liquid that point distribution was +- 50 to 150 points. It wasn't unusal to be well over 1800 provisional. As you can imagine, people abused it and thus it changed to what it is now, the same point distribution as in rated g...

Re: Standardised Win/Loss Ratings for Provis

I'd be more inclined to agree if we were given a limited number of nics. What you propose would be ideal for experienced players with new nics, but that isn't the purpose of the imposed provisional status, as you know. It's not designed to help rate new nics. It is designed to help establish new pl...
