Re: Morals and Ethics
Thanks for your thoughtful reply, Dust.... The aforementioned scenario occurred at the second Grand Prix Nationals in Orlando, FL in 2000. I heard about it from the partner of the offender (person who revoked) a few weeks AFTER the event was concluded. He also told one his friends what had happened....

Morals and Ethics
"THE "DARTH VADER" FACTOR We turn our attention to the "Dark Side of the Force". It's all about fair play. Please bear in mind that the VAST majority of players are honest, and abide by the Rules of their game of choice, while displaying good sportmanship. Still, there are a few who stray outside of...

Great Plays - Great Moments!
The Kohinoor Hand This is a wonderful hand -- a true "jewel." It was played many years ago at a local Boston area Hearts Tournament. Richard Freedman (an ACBL Life Master) was sitting South, and demonstrated his Bridge expertise. The endplay is common in the game of Bridge, especially since there i...

Spades and Bridge
Bridge - An American Pastime - Bridge, Spades and Whist are in the same card game "family". Many Spades players move up to the game of Bridge. This is a very demanding game, and requires many of years of dedication to reach advanced Life Master levels. Bridge is one of the classic card games, and is...

Happy Holidays everyone! I have seen many of the posts regarding the RDG, the erratic deals, and how unlucky cards often decide the outcome of games. Maybe the RDG is fair; however, there is no way to make all of the deals "equal". After all, are you going to deal one Jack to each player for every h...

Duplicate Spades / RDG
Happy Holidays everyone! I have seen many of the posts regarding the RDG, the erratic deals, and how unlucky cards often decide the outcome of games. Maybe the RDG is fair; however, there is no practical way to make all of the deals "equal". And one bad hand at the end of a match can spell defeat! T...

Re: Two of clubs
Here is the answer to your question. The deuce of clubs (first lead) was added to the game in the mid 1930's. "No dumping on the first trick" also came in at the same time, in order to prevent a player from receiving high clubs, and then getting blasted! The original opening lead was to the left of ...

Re: Stout brothers win 10th Annual Grand Prix!
Sorry about the typo, Dustin. I guess the beer (brand) is the easiest way to remember your names! :) As for Grand Prix Spades, it has conducted ten annual National Championship Tournaments (now called The World Series of Spades) since 1999. Only two teams have won the title twice - The Kersey brothe...
