I think we need to moan about the lack of a linux port of the euchre software. I know a bunch of players would like to see me return to the tables! It's too bad I don't run Windows equipped PCs at home (nor MacIntosh for that matter). What about it SilverCreek developers? How about a port to linux s...

Simply put, there are MANY, MANY ways to lead a trick or hand. I'll play my hand to the best of my, and my partner's ability. I just hope it's a partner who can play with me :P

Now... when I get those great 9 10 Q 9 9 hands.. watch out for that opening power lead - 9

I'll go along and support your idea of no trump, if you can support me for a Canadian Euchre rule set also (British minus the joker, play to 10 points, for those who don't know the game  ).

Variety is good - but let's have some reasonable suggestions and limits for everyone

Can't recall whose post it was, but if you're in a game against me, or as my partner, I'll call with 9 and 10, and make it. You will not however, see me foom for table talk. I've been playing for a number of my 29 years, and I've never table talked, sandbagged on purpose (a few by accident), or thro...

It's all about the hardware you're running ME on. My IBM NetVista (something or other) runs just fine and dandy with Windows ME.

Of course, it's not as good as the same box running Linux, but you know ...

Can't play every game easily in Linux (yet).

I enjoy tournies - and I've been in Hardwood for a number of years myself. But when I'm asked what day is best, I said Sunday, along with others. Now that 8:00 on Thursday is the selected time for the HW Sponsored event, it runs up against a tourney slot in my favourite room, that's been there for a...

How about a euchre player's view on this? I like the idea of a "cheaters" tourney, where everyone knows the rules allow the cheating methods, GOING INTO THE TOURNEY. As with other varitions, such as reverse (play to lose), red-only, black-only, etc... it's just another set of rules. If a ban on adve...

I didn't say it was easy... but it's the way I learned :)

I must admit, playing in high school and college, the majority of my peers used 5's to count the score. I tried teaching them, but they wouldn't believe me that it was a valid way of doing it.

The Canadian way. 0: 3 is face up, with 2 face down. No pips showing. 1: Slide 2 down to show 1 pip. Cards are overlapped in 'portrait' form. 2: Slide 2 again, showing 2 pips on 3. 3: Slide 2 again, showing 3 pips. 2 is still face down, below the 3. 4: 2 turned over, covering bottom pip of 3. Total ...

You silly American's, using the fives to score. Do it the Canadian way, using a 2 and 3! I'll let ya squirm on that for a few before I give ya the scoring procedure :)
