Re: Last Hand Bid Puzzle 2

Wow! I've been away too long.....As a few have mentioned, the bid is third not last. If you bid more than seven Im beating you. If you bid 7 I beat you. If you bid 9 I beat you. Eight I beat you. The opps can bid six total and make it blindly. So....if you bid 6 or 7 I nil and beat you. Bid eight or...

Re: Theory about discarding non-spade suits

I pop in from time to time, thanks! On this thread suppose partner held.......... S.A D.Kxx H.AKxxxx C.xxx His heart spots are 9742 and he also hold the ace and king..............suppose he leads either the ace or king, whichever way you have agreed on, then after seeing you discard two clubs, he se...

Re: Theory about discarding non-spade suits

What has been already posted on this subject is basically true. However, the very best answer to your question involves the (Bidding). It is impossible to give you the best answer until we know what bid your partner made and what each opponent bid. The reason being.................what you discard w...

Re: Morals and Ethics

Hi all............I do not intend to discuss morals and ethics here but what I do intend to clear up is "cheating." In our illustrious bridge world what did happen in this example given is just. Law 72 clearly states in the ACBL Direcors handbook that you are in no way responsible as far as giving t...

Re: First hand play question

Why yes Galt! I own and manage two businesses. One is an amusement business which places me into about thirty locations with equipment and the other is a functioning first rate billiard parlor equipped with 22 nine foot tables and 7 bar size tables............. It keeps me busy. Ice....................

Re: First hand play question

Actually Ice no good answer exist for the question posed!!!! The problem with the question and facts are: He stated, "The bids are neglible!" The BIDS are always important and one cannot ascertain and correct answer on play when they are unknown. He stated: The rest of your hand as also unknown He s...

Re: First hand play question

You are right about the bidding! If partner has only bid one and leads that king..................WE might assume he has a busted nil hand with either a singleton or dub king......In that scenario I might overtake and lead it back simply to make our bid and still let pard use his worthless spades cu...

Re: First hand play question

Hi all, Reading with interest all the suggestions and replies so I figured I would add some of what has not already been mentioned. A. It is almost always wrong to overtake a king lead from partner.......Exceptions would occur when you hold the AQJ...now, overtaking is a no-brainer. B. If you see th...

re

to answer your own argument in much less words manic............. What is the worst that can happen when leading from qxx? Ya cannot lose at MAX more than one trick and than trick is not one you contracted for via bidding unless you are psychic. What is the worst that can happen when leading from jx...

re

How can leading from qxx in theory be worse than jxx? Every argument made against qxx can also be made against jxx except the jack is the only case where three tricks can be lost when pard holds king xx. Sure we can lose a potential trick leading from the queen, did we bid on it? NOTTTTTTTTTTT.........

re

It's actually an easier thread if we had xxx instead of jxx..........why? With three small it is in fact a totally passive lead and if led it costs ya pard ziltch because any card he holds is finessable anyway.........why? Because ya have no honor card in YOUR hand! This thread and the resulting exa...

After re-examining manics examples I noticed the 12 table bid........considering it is a new game, 12 bid, unknown pard, unknown opss, etc............... This is the info we have in our view and the info to make our lead decision from.............. Making a lead, making any lead is not cookbook........
