Re: Oh no, I'm in big trouble now!

A request - can we force IQ tests on people before they're allowed to join? No, I didn't think so. OK, another odd player story then. Yesterday, a player got upset that he thought he was being targetted. Quite upset. Didn't swear or anything but took it very personally that he was getting all the po...

Re: No Shoot Room

I was, and still am, a fan of the split rooms. I found a noticeable lack of whiners, comparatively speaking, when it was just a no shoot room. No disrespect to all the good players who like to shoot!

But, the filter discussed here sounds like a decent alternative, if it does work.

Re: Old Rating System Unfairness

I guess it's yet more proof that being in a "privileged" position does not necessarily equal having much of a brain in someone's head! Ego, yes. Brain, not by the sounds of it. I mean, with all due respect to the game and the majority of good players, and I love playing it and everything... but real...

Oh no, I'm in big trouble now!

Those who have ever played one of my games know that I always set up my own table, and set forth the way I like it to be played with the opener "Hi, this is a Play To Win table, P&P OK. No whining please! :) TY&GL". That way, everyone knows what is what from the beginning. (btw, this isn't a pro-or ...

Yeah, I have had a couple now. But they were more clueless than offensive, so I guess that's an improvement. Definitely in the minority still, though.

Re: Changes?...

It was a surprise to find a No Shoot room but I really like it now. When I went in there an hour ago, there were actually more people in there than Smoots - 66 to 55 or something like that. I always play Play To Win, no shoot games and always say so right at the start. Before, you'd still get people...

I think I have a similar issue - I have to reset the game hosting options every time I start a new game; it doesn't remember them from previous times. I used to have the Windows version and it remembered them each time. Now, the Jack Of Diamonds one is the only one it remembers and I have to reset a...

The actual term "noob" (or newb, or newbie etc) just refers to someone new.

I'm the one that starts off every game with "Hi, this is a Play To Win game, P&P OK. No whining please! :) TY&GL" , a few seconds pause for people to leave if they wish, and then continue on. Sometimes people do go, and good luck to them. Most stay and play as intended, and the games are good, often...

I've just rejoined HH after a year or so away - this was due to having TWO Windows PCs implode within the space of a fortnight. Various other real-life unpleasantnesses didn't help either. I am now on a Mac; HH wanted a separate payment for the mac version which it took me a while to warm to but I t...

I read this over and over agin and I am not sure which way it goes, still after days, lol. Do your games play that PnP is OK and one can play whatever card they want (real hearts by my definition, largely villified in games)? Or does: I only play games that I set up, as a courtesy to others who don...

... I don't see how it can be any different, traceyr. Me neither, but I still come across lots of people who think you have to play for *them* to win, or not ever do anything that might be construed as unfriendly (how on earth do these people function in the real world??) - or who think that if the...

Play To Win

And now, for the hard of thinking, just a quick explanation of the term "Play To Win", as I describe my games in the lobby. By this, I don't mean "Everybody But Me Plays To Lose", as one mental giant continuously comments everytime I say it. I mean - "EVERYBODY Plays To Win". You know, like Nobody P...

Actually, Tracy, I played in one of your games, and having that message in the beginning made it easier, you aren't treading on peoples toes  At least you know beforehand, mind you, I can't remember whether I won or not :D   <total guess> You came second by only 20 points. </total ...
