Re: Canasta Pleaseeeeeee

Great suggestion. And if you like Canasta, you will LOVE "Hand and Foot" - a newer and more lively version of Canasta! Check out "Hand and Foot" on the Internet via Google. How about Pinochle? (Double Deck, Partners). Now there is a fun and challenging card game. And for those who like a change of p...

Re: "Distribution & High Cards"

Dust - Thanks for your excellent input on this topic. I was exploring some ideas for more equitable distributions / hands for players. Maybe the random deals are in the only way to go. After all, that parallels what happens in real life. - Or does it? Nothing can be more frustrating than t...

"Distribution & High Cards"

#1 PET PEEVE - "They had the better cards; that is why we lost" Hardwood does a good job with the RDG; still, there are those unusual hands which do occur on occasion..... The most common distribution patterns are: 4 - 4 - 3 - 2 (two 4 card suits, a 3 card suit, and a 2 card suit) 5 - 3 - 3 - 2 5 - ...

The Song Title Game!

A new (and fun) Music Game. We start the thread with a song title (e.g " You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling") The Righteous Brothers The next person to come along must post a reply with a NEW song title using one of the words from the previous song title (e.g " You've Got A Friend), James Taylor Then t...

Re: Music Trivia - Brain Buster!

The answer is......

The words of the title of each song are never sung (or included) in the lyrics of each song.
For example "Unchained Melody" is not part of the lyrics of that song., etc.

This is one of my favorite questions.....

Cheers -

"The Fourteenth Trump"

"The Trump That Came In From The Cold"! The original Grand Prix Spades Tournament was called "Vegas 99". It featured a 275 player field, and some tremendous players. The hand illustrated below is most interesting. The West player bids a borderline Nil, and when the round of bidding is over, his Team...

Re: Logical Puzzle

I first saw this Puzzle when I was 11 years old. Yes, it does have a "Bertrand Russel" flavor! It has been presented in different publications, with slight "twists"! Yes the solution is "easy" if one gets the point; the point, however is likely to be elusive, and is intentionally made more (so) by t...

Re: Avoid this Nil!

Hi there "Flower".. Yes, And I do agree that most Nils are settable. Your example with the 8 - 5 - 2 of hearts is amazing? Maybe, as it turns out , you should have considered leading another one of your side suits! Is this a "settable" Nil? Spades - None Hearts - 6 5 4 3 2 Diamonds - 5 4 3 2 C...

Logical Puzzle

Here is a logical puzzle , or "brain teaser". A Logical Puzzle requires that the solver has a moment of "inspiration" or "insight", which is often part of solving any problem. The answer may seem to be simple; however, the ultimate solution may be so elusive, that it becomes impossible (or illogical...

Re: Avoid this Nil!

Hello, Todd... Two similar hands, to be sure... The hand illustrated (the original post) above occurred in Orlando in December of 2000. I think you played Duplicate at a different event /city, (maybe Atlanta, 2001 or Cincinnati, 2002) which also had the same format. In those days, the hands were fre...
