Re: Hardwood Myths and Realities--
Dust-- It seems to me that mostly the system autokicks after two minutes with the red circle. I usually watch the timer by pinging the person and it seems they disappear on their own after exactly two minutes of inactivity. Maybe a programmer could say if this is really true or just seems it-- Spades

Re: Reporting a Game--Question for Admin
So if I never leave the table and file the report from there it automatically logs all the info? I don't have to list any identifying info about the game? I haven't been doing this at all---I always exit so the people in the room can have a new game. Does this mean the reports I've filed over the ye...

Reporting a Game--Question for Admin
When reporting a problem with a game, how much info is needed to identify the game? For example, is it enough to list the time it started and the players in the game? Is the room number helpful, or the number given to the game in the replay wndow? For example, in my computer games are logged with th...

Re: Software Beef
I'd like to see the feature where everyone in the room okays their partner. If someone leaves and a new person comes, their partner needs to approve them before the game can start and be rated. Just now, and it wasn't the first time, I was in a game with a pard who looked fine and was ready to go. I...

Re: TCP HELP!!!
Well, I'm no tech expert but I've had a lot go wrong. Here's a list of the stuff that has gone wrong with my Internet, wireless and HW: --Bad router (yeah, you knew that) --Bad wireless card --Bad ethernet cable connecting modem and router (yes, really lol) --background backup process going on in my...

Splitting Pass and Regular
I logged on today and got a message that Pass now has its "own" room, with with Mirrors. But the lobby was empty and there were no games. I logged out again, came back in and got the normal Smoots with the normal message. Did I accidentally stumble on a version of a future programming change? Spades

Unblocking
I might just be dense but am hoping someone can help me understand the concept of "unblocking." I've read quite a few descriptions by top spades players, but there's something I'm missing. I think in some cases I"m getting the play but just not getting the terminology. In other cases I may not be un...

Re: Question on game points
Good post Galt. I was thinking the same thing but didn't quite know how to say it politely. Personal experience--when I was newish, I observed a few 1900/2000 games. I didn't see anything different there. Now I do. Probably in six months I'll see more stuff I'm missing now. Just one little example f...

Primal--
Might have been someone who earned the rating playing cut. His or her partner spades record was losing, but the cut record may have been good.

Hardwood Myths and Realities--
These questions are for Jonas or HW programmmers, or even experienced users. Question 1-- It happens fairly often that when players leave a room, they appear to be "ghosting" in the lobby--that is that they look like they are still in the room when they are not. As a result, the table sits but nobod...

Re: Nosy Question--1900 nics
Jonas, separate lists would be awesome! I did an eyeball count and fewer than a third of the top 25 play partners to any significant extent. I wonder..would there also be a way to exclude cut players from team-rated rooms until they earn the right to be there by playing partner spades? Their presenc...

Re: Restricted from Moderated rooms
Yes! I just wonder why we don't do a lot more of this.
Make being in Smoots a privilege. You paid for the game and that gets you into Dark Horse Tavern. But break the rules and you get just the minimum--no more access to the room moderated by hard-working volunteers.

Two Strikes You're out?
Well, I see an empty Dark Horse Tavern. And I also see that people in Smoots continue to flout the rules--throwing games obviously, accusing of cheating, harassing others etc. The most I've seen happen is they get silenced for a bit. Big deal--they don't care, and some even view it as a badge of hon...
