Nosy Question--1900 nics

It appears from looking at the web rankings that there are around 100 or so nics over 1900. I'm curious...how many people does that represent ie. is it 50 people with 2 nics each or 20 people with 5 nics etc.? What proportion are primarily cut players as compared with partner spades players? I also ...

Re: Chastised for not passing spades

Of course you should pass your singleton ace, unless it's the last hand and you want to set the nil in order to set the opponents bid.

Re: SEPARATE REG ROOM AND PASS 2 GAMES

Well, pass is very popular, so I wonder if there would be enough games if the rooms were separated--particularly for lower-rated players. I also like the option to see everyone who is on at the same time. I prefer reg, but there are some people I want to pard whether they are playing reg or pass. If...

Re: Duplicate Spades / RDG

Wow, I think I'd really enjoy that.

Even more interesting would be if the system could be programmed to allow you watch the replays of others playing the same hand--later of course.

If this option existed I'd probably do a combination of that and regular luck-of-the-deal spades.

Re: DarkHorse Tavern

A priest, a rabbi and Condoleeza Rice walk into a bar. And the bartender says, "What is this, some kind of joke?"

thanks for the explanation Jonas.

I'll have to think of the jokes I know that are naughty but not *too* naughty. So this duck walked into a bar...

Yes, the GoodyTwoShoes Parlor. That's it!

I want to be an honorary member. And if it gets to me, I'll just head over to Dark Horse and cuss a little.

Re: DarkHorse Tavern

A little profanity or bad talk won't hurt minors. I heard a lot of it back then and I turned out okay. As for DarkHorse being guide-free, I wonder, perhaps it will siphon off the nasty people many of us would prefer not to have in regular rooms. Perhaps if they all play in DarkHorse they can all beh...

Re: Just an amazing game

Dustin--

Your other point about having two ways to win makes sense. But I gotta say when I'm on the other side of it (doing the bluff nil or the bluff bag bid) I always hope the other team will take the bait and overbid.

Re: Just an amazing game

Dustin--

Yes, I agree, one would have been more logical and more elegant, but in this case it didn't make much difference.

Re: Random Deal Generator

I like totally random. If a game is won or lost now and then based on crazy cards, that's part of the fun. It works both ways.

If HW offered the option of "smoothed' deals I wouldn't play those games, and if they were the only option, I'd leave and go play elsewhere.

Re: Just an amazing game

p.s. Again, as to Dustin's post, I don't agree that it is "mandatory" that the final bidder bid the game to counter a bluff nil. Sometimes it is the right call to bid game, and sometimes not. My take is it depends on your hand, your best estimate of your pard's hand and your gut feeling as to the vu...

Re: Just an amazing game

Dustin-- There was a good reason for my two bid. Galt was bidding a crazy nil to fake me out into overbidding my hand. I knew this. I could have bid four for the win, but most likely would have been set. That was Galt's plan and I wanted to avoid it. If I wasn't gonna bid the four, there was no purp...

Re: Just an amazing game

Right, Galt...that makes sense. In retrospect leading 10 J instead of 2 would have worked better. I could have exhausted your pard and mine and then led my 2 and you were toast. But without seeing cards first what would you lead in a case like that? I think perhaps ironically what allowed it to sail...
