Personally, in the regular "singles" Hearts games, if I am host and a player leaves I will put in a bot. My reasoning for that is based partly on the discussion about players sitting and deliberately losing for that seat. I do NOT think that is a fair way to play the game at all, no matter WHAT the ...

Hmm, I think that the reason that approximately half of the players are below the average rating is because that is exactly what one would expect from a statistical standpoint. I don't recall saying anything about anybody complaining about HW. I do recall when HW had fewer players than it did today...

The number of players in the 1832+ range who were observed playing were obviously NOT the ONLY players with that rating! Galt, if all the high rated players logged on with their high nicks, there would be no problem finding those high rated games you are always looking for! It puzzles me to no end t...

Ruby, we are not so different... Even tho I am defending the hosts who kick for "no reason". I too think that is a pretty crappy way to manipulate things to get rating points. The point that I have been trying to make is NOT that I AGREE with what they do in all cases, but simply that there is no re...

Support was contacted about this... The question was asked in a shorter version of what my original post said ... and their response was as follows... "Within reason. You need to have a valid reason for kicking people or thats considered harassment and game interference." So that is where my confus...

I want everyone to be clear on what the rule is here. As it seems, we ARE allowed to kick people before the game begins if we have a valid reason. No, runt, you are missing the point. And making this claim is going to CONTINUE to have people challenging the host-kick thing. The "rule" is simply THI...

Personally, I could count on one hand the number of times I have used the "host-kick" feature in a game (and still have enough left over to make a rude gesture!). But even tho I do not use it very much, I think that it is a necessary feature to have and to keep. Everyone is going to have different v...

If you want to continue using OE, there's a "fix" for this problem, but you have to use it each time you open up OE with new mail. Go to your "Bulk Mail" folder, and delete one or more messages from there. When you go back to your "Inbox", just wait a second or so and the "duplicates" will disappear...

I see your point about the 6-bid being virtual suicide for South, but a 2-bid? What are the chances that West will not have the requisite 4 tricks for the win? To set them at a 6-bid, your partner would have to have 6 tricks in his hand (7 if you consider that you are assured only ONE...). The only ...

Re: Better than average quiz

I just finished this game. I was sitting South. I will add that our team won the game. Score: Your team 390 Opps 460 East bids 2 and here are your cards... Spades 5 A Hearts 3 4 5 9 Diamonds 4 6 J Clubs 7 8 J Q What do you bid? I must be missing something here... The ONLY way for you to win the gam...

LOL Let me try here HEXA... Let's say that you have 2 cards remaining in your hand. If you KNOW that you have a TRAM, then it doesn't matter which one you play. But if you do NOT have a TRAM, your next card could make a big difference in the outcome of the hand. Now, you look down in the corner and ...

Host Kicking Re-visited!

Was just in a game with a player who took a dislike to how some of the play was going. He decided to wait out the timer for each card that he played (ie was the last hand and he had lost). No one really paid it much mind, since there were only a few cards to play, although it WAS rather rude! When t...

Of COURSE in ANY game players will usually try to hit lowman whenever possible - that's the ONLY way to ultimately WIN the game!!! ...The thing about the TRUE "lowman" game is simply that the players at the table have to have some trust in each other in order for it to work. MUCH of the time, that i...
