And I was riding behind a Camaro convertible the other day with a middleaged woman sitting in the driver seat sporting a "Honk If You Love Jesus" bumper sticker. I noticed the sticker while sitting behind her at the traffic light and preceded to honk. The light was red of course and she preceded to ...

Principles;In Spades;Is It Life?

My opinion regarding the game of spades firmly applies a direct association with personal character as well as. How we handle ourself at the table and knowing how to deal with others. Equanimity, flexibility, focus, respect, and sense of humor win the game. I try to observe the situations where good...

"One of the most aggravating situations in the game of Spades is the bid of Nil by your partner when your side has a big lead. I do not bid Nils if we are winning by more than 150 points. This is especially true if we are have a score of more than 350 points, with that 150+ point lead. The only exce...

Thanks for the very kind words Joe, always a pleasure hearing kudos from someone as respected as yourself.

I do plan to attend the tourney Joe, just deciding between one of several partners at present.

"EnCompassed"

Posts, hand layouts, graphics, books, illustrations, and a host of other arenas use the words, North, South, East, and West when referencing player locations at the card tables. That does simplify the geography element of the playfield but it lacks the filling and substance that the mid directions s...

Returning Partners Led Suit

The first thing we consider when making the lead should be, "The Table Bid." The second thing considered should be specifically, "What has partner bid?" The third thing should be, "Is it us, or is it them, who is most likely to get the worst of this hand?" IF we decide we hold the upper hand, or adv...

Leads When Partner Bids Five Or More

You hold this hand as an example: S.xx H.KJ10xxx D.K103 C.Jx Partner has bid five, each opp bid three and you bid one. It's your lead and the score as well as bags are not paramount in any decision making whatSOEVER! If it needs to be the first hand of the game to keep you from asking question about...

Congrats Joe! I see it as a win/win affair within both the somewhat "gated and baited" on and offline events, as well as organizations. We've struggled as a spading community in that we do not have one focal point that has stood the test as ambassador to the Spading World. Bridge has the ACBL and po...

The masses wanted "The Desoto" to, are they still driving them? The point is, duplicate is much more skillful, it creates more skill, removes more luck, etc, etc,. It has its up and downside like everything else but it does allow a person that gets crap cards all evening long to still sit in a game ...

I would be more concerned if each game had equal hands dealt and more balanced distributions. What generally happens is if the cards are not shuffled about seven times you get more balanced distribution, Sites and programs that do not fully utilize truly random deals see far fewer freaks than sites ...
