It makes more sense to me if the players avatar is situated beneath their home board.

If Hardwood were to give the player the option to play in either a clockwise or counter/anti-clockwise direction (see the game enhancement I suggested elsewhere in this forum), that location would vary.

Thanks Jonas It's good to hear that Silver Creek are intending to fix the cheats in the BG code... eventually. It was just a disappointment to me when the last Build jumped a few numbers and the changes I could see were cosmetic. One might say, a triumph of style over substance. I remember my...

You missed an "r". It's spelt "outrage" not "outage".

I sincerely doubt the need for a thread like this would have been necessary if it had been a server for one of the card games.

Re: Improvements

I could not believe when I checked today that only 12 people in the whole world were online in Hardwood BG - Saturday not even a work day. Together we can be great please take this lengthy oration to heart and put into action by express opinions and/or support for the 5 (not bothered about play mon...

Backgammon Server down

Any estimate as to when the Backgammon Server will be back up? It's been down a while now.

Before I get all excited about it, does anybody know what the new update will contain? If it's another cosmetic upgrade, I won't be putting out the flag.

However, the SECOND player to roll DOES get the opportunity to roll a double, at least from the way I was taught the game... 8) I was taught the same way and it seems fair. The disadvantage of going second is balanced by the advantage of being able to roll a double. But isn't it just poetic justice...

Game settings

 It would be good to see a game setting which allowed the player to choose which direction they play in. Clockwise or otherwise. Some backgammon books (eg., Robertie) play in the opposite direction from Hardwood. Beginners might find it easier to play given a choice of direction. In fact, as b...

No fix in latest Build

The game has seen seven builds since I reported this fundamental fault and it hasn't been fixed. I'm very disappointed. On the other hand, the user interface and slick graphics continue to improve.

New build

I've just noticed someone on Build 15. I tried "Check Version" but am told I'm on the latest one. I'm on Build 12 and desperate to upgrade. Does anyone have any news regarding when we peons can expect expect general availability?

I don't usually keep track but I had a game earlier where 6 of the first 9 rolls were doubles. It slowed down toward the end but there were still a total of 17 doubles rolled in the game. Roughly one out of three. That doesn't sound very random to me. :?

Interesting. Apart from when the roll is doubles  , I wonder how the game will know which die to play first.

Personally, I'd rather see the broken aspects fixed before improvements to the user interface.

Ladybug is right.

If you decline the first double, you lose one game. If you accept the first double, the stake is two games.

And keep in mind, a gammon in a doubled game is worth FOUR (2 x 2).
