TT is an issue, but why are we talking about scenarios related to spades? I agree that saying things such as "pnp'er!" is giving information out that should only be revealed from card play. Heated discussions during a hand is going to lead to TT because something will be said that will give informat...

[quote="omni_555"] XtesterX, I understand that YOU do not have much concern about ratings. However, just try playing for an entire session on HW with ONLY unrated games set!!! Unless you have a few friends who have arranged to be there WITH you I predict that you will have a very LONELY time!!! WHY ...

THis is the best thing I have heard anyone say yet......... and I, for one, am tired of the refugees coming here and complaining that 'this' was better.. or 'that' was different... then sit in the lobby saying ' I miss 'such and such' site Yes Hardwood had its problems & name calling, dumping, bash...

I don't mute anyone, but I simply close the chat window or switch the window to the lobby. I don't use balloons for chat, but I do find it amusing when every other card I see the little balloon icon show up next to a player's name. Every once in awhile I'll look at the window to see what they're ran...

Been awfully quiet here, so new topic. Playing pet peeves!

I'm sure we all have little things that people do in the course of play that drive us nuts. What's yours? I have three. #3. People who continually lead low man's void for no apparently good reason. Sometimes it can't be helped. Low has two suits, you have the other two suits. Nothing you can do but ...

I think cross dressing helps. I created a new nick, gave it a non hearts related male name, a male avitar, and in my profile described my style as playing to get low and win. I also added a disclaimer that stuff happens. So far I've played 11 games under this nick and haven't been whine...

While i agree with the tips given here, and sure the rating system drastically alters play, so does the fact that SPOT hearts is the main variant played here. Here's what i mean. In a hand of regular hearts, there is 26 points, 13 hearts and the QS, giving the QS 50% of the total points. In a spot ...

There are a number of below average players who play on HW who think that they are nothing less than Gods at the game! They feel that they should be giving advice to EVERYONE, and that the ONLY way to play the game is THEIR way! I am usually satisfied when I peek at their profiles and see a patheti...

Welcome Sol. If the spot games scare you, play straight 100 point no JOD games. There are plenty of us who like plain old hearts. Playing the bots gets boring, unless you like talking to yourself. Yes like any online based gaming site cheating can be a problem. My feeling about people who feel the n...

Give the forum link so they may vent, hopefully with some discretion. Luckily you and I have an outlet.. I wonder if they are aware of the forum, a place to vent as you have done, even exists. Reading different perspectives tends to broaden one's very own opinion, i know it does mine. Im set in my ...

Unfortunately the ladder here became 1x1 with 2 bots beacuse there just weren't enough people to get 4 player games going. I prefer this way, personally. It put an immediate halt to accusations of cheating in tourneys which got really bad, it was just almost more annoying than if someone had actual...

Is it just me, or are people getting nastier?

I played a number of games this evening where one player would spend the entire game whining at one person or another about how they played. Different whiners every game, and different target of their abuse every game. (If it was always me they complained about, I might think that maybe I really do ...

the problem with trying to play a 'lowman' game is even the alot of so-called 'lowman' players will dump and P'n'P on high when they themselves are trailing behind 1st place, even ex-Zonies..... I think I would enjoy a true 'lowman' game, and I have tried countless times to play that type of game, ...

8) I understand your point and yes, there are those scenarios you mention. In general and generalities are what we're talking about -each game is independent of antoher, the game scores are very close in a well played low man game, that 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and not collectively working to get the low ...
