The Legend Lives On

Post by Joe Andrews » Tue May 15, 2007 11:52 am

"The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down -
Of the Big Guy they call Great Gitchy Ricky -
Ranger, it is said, never showns a sad frown -
When the going gets tough or becomes rather sticky"

Rick Knapp, the Euchre Legend, and his able sidekick, Harvey Lapp,
decimated a strong field of Euchre competitors, at the recently completed Grand Prix Las Vegas Open. This formidable partnership
started out with nine consecutive wins, and then coasted to comfortable victory in the Main Partnership Tournament. Their flawless play
and impeccable technique was just dazzling, and the "ooos and aahhs" could be heard from the other side of the function hall area.
With victory "in the bag", Rick and Harv eased up on the gas, and used
the last four rounds to show the kibitizers the finer points of the game.

A large crowd watched Rick roll out another one his patented Loners on the last hand, as his Team finished with a sparking won - loss record of 13 - 3! The applause was thunderous and lasted for two minutes! Rick was happy to autograph many of the actual scoresheets from his games. Look for these to show up on E-Bay! He also signed copies of "The Complete Win At Euchre", as he is the subject of one of the Chapters. Rick has now won Euchre tournaments in Canada, and six U.S. states, and is one of the best players in the world!

Vegas oddsmakers have made Rick and other outstanding partner (MS Bear) one of the the clear favorites to win The World Series of Euchre in Lansing, MI (Sept. 14 - 16). This is the big one and the title that will stamp Ranger Rick's ticket to the Euchre Hall of Fame! Three Casinos are now handling the "sportsbook" on the Rick and "Bear" Team. The over / under (16 games) is +140. If you are going to Lansing, you will be in for a treat, as you will be able to watch "Rick The Legend" in action, in person, wearing his custom tailored snazzy "roaring 20's suit!

So much for the Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald.

Vegas was a lot of fun, and seeing the Grand Prix gang was great.

A special thanks to Harvey for carrying me thru the tourney.

I look forward to Lansing and seeing the Hardwood gang again.

Our live tourney in July is filled but not everyone is playing in both tourneys so there still may be a few seats available. A waiting list is now started.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, except for the pictures.
