Congratulations to Damon & Dustin Stoudt who won the 10th Annual Demand Media / Cases' Ladder Grand Prix World Series of Spades in Las Vegas (Oct. 17 - 18, 2008) This long-running Series is the only sanctioned "live" Championship Spades tournament, and has been around since 1999.

Damon & Dustin had to play seven qualifying rounds, make the "Elite Eight", (which they did with a perfect 7 - 0 record) and then complete three successful playoff rounds in the best 2 out of 3 games format. After all of that, they emerged with the $2400 Cash Prize, and neat acrylic plaques!

If you see them in a HW room, extend a "Congratulations" greeting to them.

Sorry about the typo, Dustin. I guess the beer (brand) is the easiest way to remember your names! :)

As for Grand Prix Spades, it has conducted ten annual National Championship Tournaments (now called The World Series of Spades) since 1999. Only two teams have won the title twice - The Kersey brothers (in 1999 and 2001), and John Cree / Jeff Higgins (in 2003 and 2006). "Cree and Higgy" have also won two Spades Connection events, a most noteworthy accomplishmant. Other "live" Spades gatherings may have "dubbed" their "get togethers" as the "Nationals"; the Grand Prix is still is the only Officially recognized Title event. The unique format / structure of Grand requires 7 qualifying Rounds (500 point games), and the best 2 out of 3 games in the Playoffs. A Team winning the GP is truly the Creme de la Creme!

All GP Champions have earned their Titles! Just ask Damon and Dustin - the 2008 winners....
