too little too late for some jonas...........we should have been let known this kind of change was coming and and this bs about the rating is just what it is bs. we have all heard the theory of card distribution but that is bs also. the card distribution sucks and so that is why all the rating bs. if ppl want changes then yes by all mean make a more expensive version but for ppl that like it (other than card dist) and (some guides that aren't consistent) then by all means let them have one, but times are hard for some ppl and can't afford even a few dollars at the moment and now we paying the price for even buying hw in the first place like when i did 10 yrs ago. you need to worry more about the rude and nasty ppl that are stinking the place up and the u have guides like Nana that will player one nic and then let another nic go that says almost exact samething and her excuse is she wasn't the one that playered the nic. is there not guidelines to go by for the guides?

I like the idea of no reset . too many people are abusing it. They throw a game and lose on purpose with certain nicknames so they can just reset them. This may still happen but hopefully not as much. Also, we now can see the quit rate and losses that are real. Play a real rating opponent or partner.
As for what BBQ said...I was under the impression we purchased the game and the online feature was a free bonus that can be taken away in its entirety or singled out features. If the owners so choose they can ban you from playing online without a refund. So they have the power to make changes without your consent. When games make changes and upgrades they often rquire purchasing the newer version...this is true of x-box and wii and others. So why not here too? When I play spades in real life people do not leave the table when they are losing or make a bid of 11 to throw the game when they get upset. Maybe the changes here online will make the game more fair and more pleasant like it is in real life.
I like the loss of the reset button and I know others do too.
Thank you silvercreek/Hardwood.

Everyone is asking exactly what the new changes are going to be. Can someone educate us?

I completely disagree with Synderyella, with all due respect.Losing the reset button will only enhance the nasty peoples ability to ruin a perfectly good rating by coming in and doing things such as you stated. And then, like BBQ stated. The jerks will then just make a new nic and go on with their sick , demented actions. NOT a good idea. And as for seeing whether or not a person is a quitter, you go to the profile and click on the web profile, and it exposes ALL of their recent activities in games.

Hi everybody.

Thank you for the explanation Jonas. It was nice Gomph was there to talk to players and explain things also. I am really excited about the Canasta coming!

As far as the no reset, I am fine with that. I have played many sites and this is the only site you can automaticially reset your rating at will. I do have to agree that being able to reset the rating is a little bit like cheating. I know I won't be popular for saying that, but for all the boasting about who is superior that goes on in the lobby, this will show who really has the skill to go along with all the smack talk so many love. I just play because I love the game and I will continue to play. If I have a low rated nic, that is just a challenge to me to get out there and get the rating back up, so I don't use the reset. Mostly I use provi nics because it is so hard to get a higher rated game and I want to play, not sit there and wait for a game to get my rating up.

So Jonas, if you pop back in, can you give us more information on the Canasta?

*looks at ike and says hmmmmmmmm* Now ike honey, you always use the same nic and accidentally reset it once. I remember that day! Surely you aren't leaving HW because they took reset away! You know I think the world of you, so please don't be too upset with me. How about some nice homemade wine? Everything will look much better then.

Welp! I am off for a fun game of spades, see you all in the lobby.

You all have a terriffic Thanksgiving! :)

 :? I just bought HW Spades a month or so ago and now I hear I am going to be charged more and lose some of the privilages (already lost: reset today) that came with the program I bought. I play at several of the large casinos & bingo sites and I have NEVER been charged for ANY UPDATE!! This is a piss poor way to run a business and a GREAT way to lose alot of good customers & money!

Kiss a Veteran today, without them you would not be as free as you are. Remember the ones who gave all they had for this country. From a Combat Vet.

Well 1stly, we haven't charged for any update since the creation of Spades (we're talking many years). That said, this will be effectively a parallel product, and its not something we'd force upon people as an update, as is quite a bit different and certainly won't be to EVERY persons liking. Please see my other post so I'm not sounding to repetitive :)

I have not seen anything yet about the changes, but did hear that the ability to reset is going away.

I have been here for 10 years or more, and I think that i reset a league name once or twice. I am not sure what the attraction is of that feature, but if that is the only thing being removed it seems like the whole thing is pretty benign.

What arent you people understanding???????????? Its not just the fact that the RESET button has been removed, Its how they decided to go about it. Im in a game, get a notice HW is updating and I come back in to find that they just deleted the reset option.Sooooo......................

A: Our CHOICE to reset has been taken away...............

B: There was no warning ahead of time......................

AND C: Its just shows how little JONAS actually thinks of US (his customers)

So stick up for the situation all you want but in the end it boils down to the fact that they dont give a rats ass about the ones who actually make the Spades site a site at all..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And regardless of JONAS coming in here and writen his short, unexplaining messages, he still hasnt said a word about what most of us are saying AND THAT IS THAT HE DOSENT GIVE A poo ABOUT HOW WE FEEL.......There are other things he could of had done that would have made everyone happy and avoided all this poo..........Im not gunna stop............ I ALWAYS voice my opinion about the way i feel and maybe in HW they can silence me for 10 or 60 min but THIS isnt the lobby and we shud all be able to express ourselfs.....JONAS why dont you actually say something about the problem instead of skirting around the actual issue? Ill give it to you JONAS, you made a great site to play on for the past 7 or 8 years for me but DUDE your upsetting YOUR followers, not just mine or Barbs of Harleys.......... YOURS man.......... FIX the issue......... Or atleast say something worth a damn...................

Yes Ike that cheating issue kinda struck a chord with me cause i will refuse from now on to play lobby lotto and my point is that the cards don't reflect ur play if ur opps always bid 8 and ur getting 3 bids (as before i stated the cards distribution sticks) and that should have been the main concern. So the reset button was my way of equalizing that situation. Jonas u really need to rethink this.

I find it somewhat bizarre that, as we live in a country that has an effective unemployment rate of around 20%, a healthcare system that has likely been permanently ruined, a debt crisis, and is engaged in two wars, people are irate over not being able to reset some stupid gaming nic back to zero.

I am thinking that a little perspective might be a good idea.
