Anti Quitting Features

Post by Jonas » Mon Apr 26, 2004 6:09 pm

Whelp we should have our new server up for tomorrow with new anti quitting features:

The 2 main aspects are:
1. Quitters won't be allowed to receive wins.
2. Established games will require you to complete at least 90% of of rated games if you want to join one.

So here are the details:

When Do Missing Players Get Rated?:

1. To be considered a missing player the player has to have been the original player in that seat and made at least one move, cut deck, bid, or played a card.
2. Other players will always be rated against a missing player.
3. A Quitting player will always be rated if their seat lost.
4. A missing player in a winning seat (1st or 2nd in a 4 player individual game, 1st in 3 way) will be rated if they played more then 3/4this of the game (based on number of hands dealt), and they were disconnected or kicked. A player that chooses to QUIT the game will NEVER receive a win, only a loss.

Bottom line is, if you want to get points for a win, don't quit. If you play the bulk of the game, you won't be "robbed" for a disconnect or others kicking you out at the end of a game.

New Low abandon game requirement for all Established games ( blue v)

Now all Established games will require that a player has finished 90% of all rated games they have played in order to join.

A player may still play rated games, but not Established games, BlueV games.

If your abandon ratio is over 10% you can complete rated games to repair your standing.

Your abandon rate will be shown in your profile.

What this basicly does, is remove chronic quitting players from games that new names are not allowed to play in. This prevents folks from just making a new name and jumping into a Established game. Hence protecting folks from chronic quitters.

This isn't a perfect solution, but it should be a step in the right direction and was doable in the window of opportunity available to us.

Do you mean 90 % ?

Is this per individual nic ? or across all nics combined ?

If a person disconnects and returns are they included for the win as currently ? or do they have to complete 3/4 of the hands to count ?

gehehe, ya Opps, I meant 90%.

It is PER NIC. So if a player is a stinker on one nick, they can be an perfect angel on another.

However, it doesn't gain them anyting since if they want to play with the Heavy hitters, they can only do so on the good nick.

IF a player disconnects, and then is in ther seat when the game is over, they will be rated as if they completed the game.

Folks have to atleast finish 10% of thier rated games to play in established ( bluev) games.

someone can quit 90% of their games and still play (bluev) games ?

or do you mean ?

Folks have to atleast finish 90% of thier rated games to play in established ( bluev) games.

OK all!!! Let's here it for the SCE guys and gals!!! It's not going to PERFECTLY satisfy EVERYONE (personally I would have liked it to be a little harsher on the quitters, others may think this is too harsh, etc), but I'm sure that we will ALL prefer it to what went before!!! 8)
Playing games should be FUN - seek out your own level! Don't frustrate others unnecessarily. 8)

I'll second that motion Omni. It may not satisfy everyone, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Let's here it for SCE! Good Job!

ok I get to throw in the wrench.

Most league rooms and tourneys have games that don't finish. Maybe its DQ, players just playing waiting for tours, whatever, how will this effect your quitting ratio and can it possibly be turned off in the league rooms?

Thanks SCE, you guys are the greatest!

Maybe if you start a game you don't know if you'll be able to finish you can make it social.
