Victory Messages

Post by player2376 » Tue May 25, 2004 11:29 am

So today wasnt a good day and I lost a few games.

After losing the third game and being blasted with a rude,
obnoxious victory message I wasnt in the best of moods.

The fourth was more than enough for anyone.

I would like ALL victory messages gone.

One out of a hundred say anything good, like gg or thx for
the game.

Ninety-Nine out of a Hundred are in your face, you loser,
you sux, and worse.

This is a feature in HW that has to go. I know I'm not the only
one who sees red when losing a game then having it rubbed in.

HW is supposed to be a family place to play with good sportsmanship
and respectable chat.

Victory messages have things in them that you couldn't say anywhere
else.. not the lobby.. not in rooms.. and shouldnt be shoved in people's
faces after games.

That's how I feel.. what do you think about it.

Player, I did not vote, you did not give enough options.

What about:
"Allow victory messages, but make them censorable by guides, like profile."

That is my vote. 8)

Guides can't see them, because they are not in the game....just like game chat prior to Guide coming in.

I like doing away with them.

Most I have seen are rude.

In no way do I think guides should get involved in this Wildfire.

The messages are only seen after a loss. They arent obvious
on profiles so you can't have a guide delete them before playing.

After a loss and seeing that message, the last thing you want to do
is go crying to a guide that somebody had a bad message and please
do something about it. Guides would be as indecisive as they
sometimes are with censorable nics.

After taking the time to run down a guide, the person has probably
logged off anyway so the guide won't be able to censor the offending
victory message. All we'd hear is sorry.. they logged off.. will check
it out next time they log on.

Nope.. HW is responsible for this fiasco and they should handle it.
Guides have enough to do without adding this to their duties.

If you want your place known for good sportsmanship, get rid of
disgusting, mean, offensive messages.. or get rid of the place where
they can be posted without restriction.

My poll has the correct questions.. vote as you wish.

This could also be posted under the rudeness topic.

If not allowed anywhere else in hw, why allow them
there?

That was my point player....tie them to the profiles, so they can be seen before, during and after a game. And if they are inappropriate they can be censored.

The job of the guides is to make SCE a pleasent place for everyone. We already know that there is an issue with the Victory Messages, and we have discussed ways of making them better.

To me if the message is there to be seen in the profile it will stay clean and/or nicer.

Again I cannot vote given your options, because I do not think ALL the messages need to go. I happen to have a nice one, and see no reason to be punished because others are rude.

Should we eliminate all profiles because some use them inappropriately? Should we eliminate all nics because some use them inappropriately?

No, we censor nics, we censor profiles, and hopefully we will be able censor victory messages also. I do not believe they should be "unrestricted access"....they are on the site and must follow TOS or be censored by guides same as all the rest IMHO.

I'm agreeing with Wildfire on this one --- a vote for either option doesn't suffice for me.

I like to see everyone with a victory message - but the rude ones need to be censored (within reason of course).

My victory messages vary, but the general idea is "Thankyou for the game - it was a pleasure playing."

Sure beats having to type it in, or 'binding' it after each game.

dump em

I'm afraid I have to agree with the "let's get rid em" line of thinking. These messages add little to the game, and are often rude, sexist, racist, or profane.

I don't think they'd be missed very much if they were just 'poofed'.

The same could be said for nics and profiles though Scout. :(

I like mine, and I like seeing the nice ones. Some are very funny. And it is an added feature that HW has that others do not. 8)

I WOULD miss them if they went "poof".

I wouldn't miss them at all. The hurtful ones cause more damage than the nice ones make up for - not worth it.

or have a standard message like: "Good Game... Thanks for playing." that can't be changed.

I agree that it exists some victory messages, that are really rude, and unpleasant, but also many exist and I have faith that the great majority that they are pleasant and tie even funny. And in my opinion the best to be with that is the same way that we ignored other players, chose for no foons, not to see score summary of the to each hand, we could have the option of not seeing Message of victory if we dont want see them ;)

yes, if they are censorable, and/or "unviewable (like mute)" I see NO reason to get rid of them across the board.

I DO think SOMETHING needs to be done about them, and SOON..... but a total wipe....too extreme.

i like the positive victory messages, but i have to agree most are rude and vulgar, when you lose a game you already feel bad, but then for someone to have a victory message saying " bow down you suck " that is just horrible, and it ruins your mood, but on the other hand to do away with them would not be fair for the people who have wonderful nice messages, and we cant let bad apples spoil the bunch even if there are more bad apples then good

my thoughts are like cadienne said have a default saying like good game or
great playing with you or something to that affect. that cant be changed.

or make them viewable to the guides and let them handle it, but they really already have enuff on there plate ....... and that is not a solution.
