Ummm... excuse me for being slightly confused by this post ! The jist of what I'm getting from it is that , any nic's that I haven't used in 6mo or more will be deleated. Yes ? No ? Could someone who knows somthing please let us know one way or the other.

If they do that regarding you have to use a nic within 6 months there should be a reminder either by email or a countdown by the nic to show the time is almost up, with all the nics we have now who can keep track of what was used when.

About the XP points I have no clue. It seems to me from the little I heard that favorites will get them quicker. This is a site about playing cards not popularity. I sure hope I am wrong with what I got out of last nights conversation. :D

I think messing with the rating system might kill this game altogether. Some of us here about 10 years and worked hard to where we are now.

Big Turner, Jonas never said anything about deleteing any nics, Susan did not catch all of last nights conversation with Jonas in the lobby and asked me and I told her I would post her comments here since she couldn't get on the forum ( Now she can Yay! ) I understand her concerns about guides handing out XP points and don't think anything like that should be left up to any individual. I totally agree about messing with the rating system might kill the game it seems to be working pretty well the way it is.

Bryan, why would you feel that if a player doesn't use a nic in 6 months it should be deleted?
The program allows us to make as many nic's as we please Who should make a rule after the fact of many nics allowed to be made then start something like that would get out of control, " Gee I wounder if so and so nic needs to be played on so I can keep it ???"

I sure don't agree with that idea at all~!

Oh XP (experience points) is just an idea we're flirting with.

If you are familar with say WoW or Farmville, you'll have a pretty good grasp of XP.

This would be an entirely parallel system, and has nothing to do with ratings.

Ratings are about how skillful you are at the game of hearts. While they could use some improvement, it would be mainly to separate them out by game variant in some way. Probably singles vrs Partners. with a leader board for each.

XP would be a value for your participation. It would primarily be earned by things like logging in for the day, or playing a game to completion, Playing a new player new to the site etc. This XP would just accumulate, showing how long you've participated in the community.

We'd likely have Levels, each level would take so much XP and so players that have been around since the dawn of time and have been active, might be a Level 73 hearts player. They still might however have a rating of 1300. Totally different stuff.

I've just realized that aside from your game counts, nothing really shows your loyalty to the community and I think that should change.

I think the idea of guides or players for that matter, might have a little XP they could sprinkle about to others. So lets say Marshall does something really nice in the lobby, you could give him a Gold star worth a few XP. He'd get a message saying that you gave him the Gold Star, and he'd feel all warm and fuzzy and it would modestly add to his pot of Xp.

Take in mind we're talking about a bot that could get into the millions of XP over the years. But again, it's not a game skill thing which is a competitive thing and it rewards competitiveness. This is more of a cooperative thing to complement the competitive thing:)

Its totally just being bounced around for pondering.

Thanks Jonas for the explanation of XP. I don't play many of the Facebook games but I have enough exposure to understand what you mean. I think XP should be at the account level if possible.... if I have 10 nics, then the system should know it's me and cumulate the XP - likewise if I create nic number 11 the XP level I am at is still shown. This will help people tell if a 1500 rating player with no games is a newbie or an experienced player with a new nic pretending to be a newbie, lol.

Maybe that's not a good idea, though, if people in a household share an account but maintain different nics. Guess all that goes into the decision into how you implement XP, if you choose to do so. :-)

onystaeeda, I didn't express my opinion on the idea of deleting unused nics, so not sure what you mean. However, I will take the opportunity now. :-)

I think it is an excellent idea. I have made nics for special occasions, such as when a tourney holds a memorial tourney, or for a month when I themed my nic to the season. I have no intention of using many of those nics ever again, and cannot even remember what all they were. Maybe the proposed time should be longer... unused in 6 months or 12 months would be better than 60 days. I also think people should be able to protect a small number of nics... I would not want brian921, Sailing_Away or 1TOP Sailor snagged by someone else ever (unless I completely stopped playing here altogether), and I could see several months going by when brian921 isn't played. If we can't protect any nics from the policy, then definitely make it a considerable length of time before reclaiming it (like 12 months).

Just my two cents, and not intended to offend anyone here.

I like sailings idea to protect a certain number of nics. I have had the U S Marshall Nic for quite a few years now and would have made it U S Marshal had that nic been available, like I said someone took it long ago and I have never seen it used in spades or hearts I cannot speak for any other games. Maybe by certain request admin could see if a nic has not been used for say years and they could delete a certain nic for a person. But I would be willing to bet that there are 1000's of nics that have never been used since they were made. For Example I have nics ,Mark_Twain, Thomas_Jefferson, Tom_Sawyer, Huck_Finn and I have never seen the names used that don't have the underscore, but they were taken at sometime because I could not use them. Just for the record also I would not make a nic like 1_top_sailor because I know that nic is active, it is the inactive nics that have been inactive for a very long time that I am asking about.

Bryan, jut a quick side note. Just because you don't see someone playing on that nic doesn't mean they aren't still using it! Many play single and not online. You wouldn't see that nic, but they may actually still own it. Also, it it is the main account nic and it's deleted, ALL their nics would be deleted. I know I haven't used my main account nic in over 10 years, but if it's deleted and given to someone else??...ackkk.....

I did not know that Lace, but I have a question is your main account nic the 1st nic that you made? If Thats the case I never use it either cause I made a typo in it.
