One solution would be to not count being kicked as a quit game. I spent a year on dial-up in Hardwood and played a lot during that time. Though I did encounter drops occasionally, that alone was not a big problem. My big problem then was the cumulative 2 minute delay that is easy to reach when you play with a ping of over 1000ms. Allowing people with no patience to boot people who take an extra second to take each turn and then have that count against the booted player is unfair and reason enough for dial-up players to leave this site.

If you stop penalizing kicked players for that which they cannot control, I bet the number of 10%-ers would be far less, and the problem kroebi brings to light would be solved.

Sorry - I don't agree - I think many will use this as an excuse to leave a losing game :(

I think they can tell if you were voted off the island vs if you left/disconnected. Removing the penalty for being kicked does not give one an incentive to leave a losing game.
