Thank you Lora. I hope more of you that feel like Lora and I do will have the guts to speak up.

Though I am not thrilled that there is now an unmoderated room where anything goes, I realize it just shows my prudishness... So please just password it to keep the kids out.

What I do seriously object to are the uncensored names that anyone can read on the players currently online page. There has to be a way that only the names that are allowed in the "family" rooms show up on the players currently online page. This family site is quickly going to hell in a hand basket, and it makes me sick to give up something I have enjoyed tremendously for 6 1/2 years.

Many requests have been logged in the forum for Sevens up or other enhancements to the site. Hardwood answered the call with a chat room for vulgarity and obsenity. I visited the room and I was appalled at what I saw. The nics were not only repulsive but made direct reference to players on the site. There was little euchre being played but a lot of people bashing was going on.

Hardwood what are you thinking? If anyone would like a key code for the site don't pay for it - you are welcome to use mine. I will no longer have any use for it.

It may have something to do with the report i found on the net suggesting that visits to silvercreek has dropped by 38% in the last 12 months, and this may be a knee jerk reaction to that , but its a bad one.
In the past 12 months the lobby of hardwood has become more and more a place for airing dirty laundry. Personal attacks on other players and jealous rages has become a common lobby occurance. I would imagine that some of the 38% drop can be contributed to what happens in the lobby and even in the games. If a player has a problem with another use a more private method. The new room is just aiding and abetting the folks that cannot get along with the normal mainstream of players. This action clearly indicates that hardwood is catering to the whims of the troublemakers and not the core players on hardwood that has made this site so enjoyable.

I agree hardwood is taking away all the good things only to replace it with bad. I would like someone from hardwood to explain the true purpose of the room.

Nice job ups...I am sure many of us would love to hear the reasons for it. Don't get me wrong, I am also not being a prude, I just agree with ups, there has been many suggestions in this forum for things that could make hardwood even better then it is already, this room isnt one of them. In most cases the guides do a great job at stopping the bashing that goes on in the "family" rooms, so why allow a room where people can be verbally abused. I am know I dont stand alone when I say this isnt what I come to hardwood for. So how about the other suggestions Jonas??? After my time in Vegas, I had the pleasure of playing a few games of 7's up with Matty, and if I was unsure before, I do agree now that would be an amazing feature to add. One that I know many more would rather try then a room where no one knows how to behave like an adult.

I have to agree with many that stated if you dont like it then dont go in. Also agree 100% that children should not be allowed in this room ,and something needs to be put in place to monitor this . My nephew plays on this site ,and I would never want him playing in the new room . I also disagree wholeheartedly that the nics used in that room can be carried around hw to be used wherever. What is said ,and done in new room ,and names used to play with should be kept in room . If people want to play in there then so be it ,but keep it in the room . I am an admin in Fire n Ice ,and I would be appalled if I was running a tourney ,and someone came in to join with one of those new nics ! And im sure many of my players would be as well . I took a peek in room last night ,and I wasnt shocked or anything ,but was taken back that HW would consider a room of this nature. I am a player on other sites though ,and always you will find an unmoderated over 18 room that is there if you choose to play in it. Guess Hw is just trying to keep up .

There needs to be a special key given to those who are over 18,
Applause applause.
Terry BuddhaMan Brett wrote:The new room will be abused for a while but will settle. By the way, to my surprise I see the bad choice nics and language is more common with the females, now that is scary.
The nics are very distasteful to say the least that some are making, and yes mostly by females I am embarrassed to admit, who leave nothing to the imagination and who find filth to be an entertaining pastime. It's appalling to say the least; pornographic in nature and debasing to women in general, in my opinion. Whereas in my signature I say, 'Grace finds beauty in everything", I find no beauty in this.

While I do agree with the idea behind this room, there needs to be restrictions set in place. Perhaps there needs to be a whole new key issued for people who use that room and only nics made under that code can be used in that room and in that room alone.

Well I have to say if I was judging the new rooms euchre would win the "booby prize" and that is my opinion, not saying they were worse but took advantage more so than the other games... not sure if that is an honor or not.

Your right if you don't like it don't go there or use iggy to not view the chat from that player. I did see some of those players taking it to the other rooms in all 3 games.

I for one do not think the degree to which some of the player acted showed their adulthood... it was more like here is a room full of candy children and you can eat all you want..... perhaps after the tummy gets upset it will stop or slow to moderation and that I think was the intent for the room.

Euchre for the most part always took care of it's self and I commend the euchre players for that, the pan slinging usually got their attention. It's only the few that ruin a good thing in almost anything we do throughout our lives go back and look and I think most will agree the few always seemed to make it so more rules had to be put in place because of them that had to push it just a little too far.

Jonas said this is a room that can stay IF it isn't a problem, are you going to let the few ruin it? Up to you all.

PS - I do agree the nics need to go and I'm taking about the real nasty ones.

I am happy to inform that I just popped into the new room for a minute and not only has it been moved to the bottom of the list (xlnt move) but the disgusting names are being censored! I went in and chatted with them and they were all in agreement that it was a needful thing to do if we wish to enjoy this freedom. Even those with censored nics were in agreement.

Well done.

Even with the controls there is much fighting and name calling in the games and the lobby of smoots. I agree that the arguments from the Dark Horse can spill over to the Smoots lobby. I would like to see Smoots cleaned up, not add a place that is conducive to more of the abusive language and inappropriate behavior.

I do not play on the free sites because of the lack of controls, now hardwood is promoting that type of behavior. I have always managed to get my point across without using foul language. Please hardwood rethink your decision to keep this room as part of the Hardwood. Has this type of room been added to the other games on hardwood such as spades?

To whom it may concern as to the new room on HW Euchre its an outrage and i am apauld. This WAS a fammily site until this room was put on. if people want a room like this then they should go to other sites that allow this kind of behavior it should not be allowed on this site. People pay good money to have your game and isnt right to allow that kind of a room if your going to allow this kind of room then you should give a refund to all the people who bought this game. There are alot of kids that play on hw and the only way to keep them out is that 1 little button you put in room just enuff to leagelly save your butt.Anyone with half a brain can create a different user name click yes i am 13 yrs or older and enter that need to reconsider this room and remove it completely from Hw.Ty for your time plz do the right thing. If ya want to keep this room then find a better way of keeping the kids under 18 out.

Yes Hoax a room was added to hearts and spades of the same name.

I do know this type of room has been discussed for years now, it just went off what I would call a little crazy. I do think true adults can have an adult room and be and act responsible in the room. Yesterday was just a "little" too much and looking today as AB pointed out it has been changed to where in is more where I think the intent was meant to go.

I also do agree that if possible we as parents should have some way to block the room and the best thing I can think of is some form of password key to enter where we can specify which nics have access to that room. Yes, initially you would have to setup a parental nic some way and that parent would also have to make the password for that nic unknown and not auto logon so their kids could go around it. If you have an average 13+ child they are probably pretty good at the PC/Mac by now and the only way I can figure how to somewhat prevent them from getting in. This way here you can add or subtrack nics allowed in there and password protect it. Yep they could probably get around it but that would be up to you to monitor their further activity.

It's really a good thing that we don't play cards like they used to.... and don't hand out guns here either, so fighting and cards have long been friends you can ask Will Bill and the famous "Dead Man's Hand". They have always tried to limit the fighting here, which I think for the most part is good and may teach good sportmansship... ty gga.

If your children are alone on the internet, then this site and any room in it should be the least of your concerns. They can access almost any porn site on the net by clicking "yes im 18" . And the vast amounts of forums just like this one on any topic you can think of(and probably alot you never would).

Yes alot of people took a lil too much freedom with the new room, but just like anything new it has to get the kinks out. HW has gone a long way to "clean" the room up already, and im sure the tweaking wont be done for awhile yet. Bottom line is its there use it or not but get over yourselfs and go play cards already.

There are kids that use this site and it is way to easy for anyone to get into that room.
Im not for or against these new rooms, because i probably will never enter them, so i dont really care to much..

But Speaking as a parent of young teens..
They're already on an "anything goes" internet connection. If parents arent monitoring their children while theyre on their internet
time. I am almost 95% sure those unsupervised kids are not spending their free internet time in HW when there is SO much "other" stuff to see at places like youtube. My kids find HW to be very boring these days, and full of us old-folks.

as far as distasteful nics go.. that is against tos shouldnt that be illegal to the site to create them no matter where you play them?

edited to add.. sry up a crik i didnt see ur post

I did go and visit the room in spades, i saw the introduction, i thought it was actually a good idea for adults. Now they can discuss things other than the weather :) It was pretty quiet. It had 8 people lol

Well to an extent our son has something on thier computer can't remember what its called internet grandma or nanny or something that doesn't allow the kids to go to unrated or R or X rated sites, however he can tell it certain sites are ok. So if he has Hardwood Spades as ok (after all thier grandma is a guide there) he would expect that they might see somethings before a guide could zap it or such but nothing like what has been going on in that room.

So all I am saying is some parents have told their kids computers that Silver creek games are ok and are going to be needing to change those settings if things don't improve. I am a big advocate of parents watching their kids on the internet, the only computer our kids (the ones at home) are allowed to use is the one in the room where we are, but if my 12 year old were 13 (which he has been waiting for) and was playing a game of spades with some nice players and I got up to go start dinner I certainly woudn't expect to come back (especially before anyone knew the room was going to open) and find him in the porn version. SO I can absolutely see where some of these parents are coming from. No one sent out a notice CAUTION silver creek is opening an anything goes room no guides not restrictions check your kids1111

Trust me as a mom and a grandma I understand, I do think admin is working hard to get it back under control as much as they can and still have the room.
