Ignorance is Bliss

Nothing can more true than that little phrase. Too many times the people that adopt this phrase often are in a position of authority which causes a trick down effect which impacts the consumers that allow that business to continue to operate. People in unpaid positions abusing their "perceived powers". Management oblivious to what is going on. Then rumors surface that the number of people using services provided by that business have dropped significantly. Rather than fix the problem they create a new "service" that wasnt in demand or wasnt thought through completely. So the blissful ignorance continues until its too late. Will the last person turn off the lights?

Card Player 1, I don't know you and have never played any games with or against you to my knowledge. We all curse the fact sometimes that the cards are horrendous. You mentioned about elite players getting off their so called pedestals to make a comment. If you applied the same basics most of those so called elite players apply, you to would be a so called elite player. Don't you find it strange that these players are always at the top regardless of their bad cards, (please don't say they are in a clique) they just know how to ride it out, and the cards you might call bad, they might find them ok. A great player does not need good cards to win, they need reasonably even cards and they will win easily, why? because they will call when the ordinary player would surely pass. I would watch more Euchre games on HW than all watchers combined, i do it because the game intrigues me. At the moment there are about five new players that haven't been on HW for that long, but i consider these players as you put it, Elite in time to come, because they know the basics, they get crap cards like all of us, but they are good players and i will bet you anything you like, that within a year they to will have many 2000 plus nics, ok you say this means nothing, but it's a good measure to show where you are going. You also said you have played and beaten the best, the fact is you haven't on this site. I don't see why HW should fix something that really isn't broken, yes bad cards drive me insane at times, but i still get there in the end. If i can't progress over a long period of time i would seriously look at the way i am playing, maybe you should do that. I will issue you a challenge like i did to GART, play some with me and i bet you will progress steadily. I am not saying that i know everything, i am saying i know the basics and percentages and how to apply them over time.

Meenie's right, many times I have cussed Da Card God's and they just send a lightning bolt down and give me more. So I started making nics in each of the games that are "Bad Card Day" nics and use them until my luck changes.... does it work.... well sometimes it seems like it does, but it sure does get me over the hump....

There are lots of players like EM, myself included that will spend time teaching other how to better their game, you know the game already and maybe a little tweek or insight into a different strat. may help you see where you may be missing some opportunities to capitalize. No ones offering to start with here's a heart and this is a jack and more on the lines of this is a good time to "block" or this is a good time to "cross" or to go crazy.

You ask anyone with a high ranking how they got there and most will tell you it took some work and a good partner. If your partner is not on the same page as you are you cannot win consistently. Ask for some play time with the players and most will spend that time with you or anyone else. I have spent many hours with many players over the almost 9 years I have been here in euchre, hearts and spades.

JUST DUST

PS - Do be careful EM bites but only on Odd days.

PS - I'm in China right now and sometimes real hard to get into the games from here for some reason (forum np) but I'll play with anyone (even trolls) and intend on having fun.

Why do think I was talking about Silvercreek/Hardwood when I made this post? I referenced neither of them. I have also never said that the elite players were in clique. I have also never said I have beaten the best. I have also never referenced how good or how poor of a player I was. Please feel free to find any post where I may have said that and I will apologize. I created this post just because. Perhaps you feel this way about Sivercreek/Hardwood and that would be your opinion. FYI: I consider myself to a very good player based on the amount of time I can and want to put into the game. "Ignorance is bliss" applies to almost every situation possible. You should maybe explore your feelings about Silvercreek/Hardwood in a more appropiate setting. But I appreciate the fact that I have given you the opportunity to tell everyone how great of a player you are once again.

PS - You apparently don't appreciate an out stretched hand and an offer of good will. I will reclaim that hand and let you be on your blissful way.

Yeah i got it wrong when i said you said you had beaten the best, i apologize, it was GART, you both sound alike. I will never fight in the Forum because it isn't for cat fights, it's a tool to learn and for information. I take great exception to your last sentence Card Player. I have never said what i am, great, good, bad or an indifferent player. One thing i do know about me, i will go miles out of my way to do things and help people if they want it, in cards or real life. Have a nice day. :) :)

Did you know they have a Walmart here?? Bad thing is everything is "Made In China" Also a Micky D's here. It is a changing country for sure and not sure it's all for the better. Found out I could live like a king over here on my pay, average wage is about .46 per hour.

Tell you what, it is a very different country....
- you go no where without an escort
- there is (so far) always a smog (worse than I have seen anywhere's)
- lots of new buildings mix in with some very old ones
- most people are very short, I feel like a giant and trying not to step on anyone
- we have to purchase everything new, no used parts
- lots of RED
- camera's are almost a no-no and have to ask to take pictures of anything outside our building
- food.... I think I'm going to lose some weight... are soda's supposed to glow in the dark, never noticed it before?
- I'm glad it's someone else's turn next month
- Got to love the ones that say they know English and find I can understand the ones that don't better
- I can't seem to get this bowing thing right either, I just tell them I'm an American and they understand

JUST DUST

PS - A komono??? just buy some silk and wrap it around you LOL... I don't know if I will actually get a chance to shop, everything has to be preapproved.

Oh man, lol that's all very funny, It's pretty heavily populated to huh.
and I dont suppose that they wear the authentic komono's and such that
they use to either.

It definetly is culture shock when you stay in another country for awhile, it was like that for me
when i stayed in Spain for 3 years. Tho probably not as far away from my own culture as China would be.
Have you mastered chipstick use yet? Id starve, my chopstick use is still limited to picking up one little rice
kernal (pod? bean? nugget? gem? what exactly are they??) at a time.

Come home soon and have some rib-sticking food, a skinny ogre is so abnormal.
