You win Jonas!

You are indeed a powerful being. I humbly bow before your tenacity and grit in being able to (seemingly) ignore requests and suggestions for this game that you yourself have asked for.
Jonas
We ALWAYS welcome any suggestion folks come up with.
While we won't always implement each suggestion right away, we do add them to the possible feature list which is quite long :)
So keep them coming.
I myself only had the patience this evening to go back through 3 years of forum posts to find but a few quotes from threads regarding suggestions for euchre. I'm sure there are more to be found, but my eyes were starting to bleed tears of frustration at all the unanswered prayers. I hand over the keys to all my forum persona's to you. I have finally accepted the fact that they are useless. I leave you with a few of the most popular suggestions made.

EUCHREtimesTWO
"Just add a best of 3 or 5 series to the game host option"
WickedWedgieWoman August 30, 2007
players have the option to make a room private and let the host of the room invite only certain players in
WickedWedgieWoman August 30, 2007
option to set the table for BEST 2 OUT OF 3
Should we have a 7's up Option in Euchre?
Poll Result 82% In favour 18% Not in favour
Joe Andrews July 09, 2007
I would be thrilled if this suggestion, the 32 card deck, (7's and up) was adopted
G
"I will sponsor $1000 worth of new memberships for euchre if the 7s up format is introduced."
Jonas July 31, 2009
I've been trying to track down exactly what IS the rule for 7's up Euchre.
Jonas November 13, 2009
Preferably I would like to say get the 7up variation up and running. However right now we're working on fundamental shifts in the underlying architecture of the site so we can roll out some cool stuff properly. Thats been keeping us really busy and I hope the fruits of that labor will start to roll out soon.
I do appreciate your frustration, and I hope we can remedy that soon.
Dust In The Wind Dec 05, 2009
maybe you haven't seen this yet Bucky but Jonas has already promised they are working on the 7UP's and expect it soon... I think it will be a great addition...
whee1s Sat Dec 26, 2009
If they up-dated HW with wins/lose%,7up,new avatars etc. etc..... Would I pay $?.?? to get the code to recieve them?YES I would.
whee1s July 06, 2009
I was just wondering if Silvercreek has thought about updating Euchre?
Jonas October 06, 2009
Well yeah, Hearts is kinda a testbed currently. We will eventually roll out the good stuff throughout.
With that last quote from the Superior being,
hearts received some graphic updates, a new avatar or 2. Things that Euchre players generally do not post suggestions for. (there may be the odd one or two)

In Hardwood Spades there are over 15 variations of play available to choose from when setting a table.
In Hardwood Hearts there are over 5 variations of play available to chose from when setting a table
In Hardwood Euchre there are 3. Standard, Cut, or British.

I have been playing on this site for a very long time now. 8 Years (going by the earliest nic i can remember making, and checking the account created date). In that time I have never seen an alteration to Hardwood Euchre. 8 years Jonas. Not one change, not one addition, not one single suggestion been put in place.

We have made suggestions, we have had polls, one player has offered to provide $1000 of membership in return for just one of the suggestions made. Another has offered to pay a monthly fee.

Clearly we are out of our league. I'm not even sure we're in the same game. Enjoy keeping your hearts players happy. I'm sure they appreciate it. Maybe one day you'll remember that you created other games. Maybe one day you'll remember you asked us to advertise your site for you. Maybe one day it will dawn on you that the best advertising you can get is word of mouth. Sadly i do not expect to live that long. Being over the age of 30, and my average expected life span being only 82, i think your failure to implement any changes will out last my life.

Best of luck to you.

Well there are some fundamental conceptual changes in the way the games get presented that are in the works. Some of those changes would lead to more Euchre variations. The Client that's out there right now is probably going to go through some major transformations, but in the end I think will be a more compelling experience all the way around.

If it was just up to me, we probably would have had 7's up variation a while back but life as a way of making other plans, fortunately those plans will probably include 7's up and other suggestions being offered. So they aren't in vain. ;)

I can't give you any sort of time line, but to say that we need to make these fundamental shifts 1st which are well underway in the underway architecture.

I know that doesn't really give you the answer you want with a tidy solution, but I think it's gonna happen, along with some other cool stuff.

Really? You are easy!!! "Jonas" has been spewing this same rhetoric for about 3 years. He shows up and makes some generic repsonse about things in the works and that is supposed to be the gospel. Here is the Hardwood Gospel: Deny, Ignore, Stall, and Avoid!!!!!!!

I understand your frustration, and if it we're totally up to me alone, that feature may have been in play awhile back, but unfortunately that isn't the case due to other projects we have on our plate.

I could give you a lot of technical bs (entirely true bs) why that's the case, but the bottom line is that we're a business and have to work on the projects that have the best return on investment. Part of the stuff we're working on now would allow us to have a small fee for a feature making the ROI a lot more tangible. I can then say this feature made us X dollars, so it enables us to make more of those features.

We're going to be rolling out some other cool features that are being put to the test on our mobile endeavors. We will be getting the PC builds up to spin soon as well from what I understand. I which I could say on this date this feature will be up and running, but right now that's not something I can honestly do and I so all I can say is it will be ready when its, well , ready :)

I am excited bout future features coming up, and hopefully they will be here sooner than later.

Sorry Jonas. You have said this same company line for 3+ years. It is getting tiresome and predictable. "We got big things coming down the line." Just admit you now have inferior euchre site and are in no hurry to fix it. But hey give us a blue star next to our profile name in the HW lobby for promoting said inferior product. I personally play about at least half of what I used to. Given Silver Creeks poor response to customer complaints do you really expect me to shell out more money, no matter how small, if and when improvements are made. What happens when those improvements become "obsolete" or do not have the desire impactment? What will the euchre players have to do then? Wait another 5 years for more upgrades? I hope everyone at Silvercreek is completely embarassed in how they have handled their customers complaints for the past 3-5 years.

Here are my suggestions:
7 up
Regular euchre games are based on 11 points, just like they are in the real world when the 5 and 6 cards are used to to keep score
When a report is filed a reponse is actually received from Silver Creek re the report
Game Options: No fooms, no talk
HW prevents someone from going alone on 9. This will stop a lot of arguments and bad blood. If this cant be done "system wide" make it a game option when setting a table.
Last but not least: Silver Creek could actually care about what their paying customers have to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depends on what part of the world you live in, but nice feature to add. Fairly easy to add too.
redheaded stepchild wrote:Game Options: No fooms, no talk
You already have this feature. Mute the chatty players and in the graphics section of the options just put a checkmark next to "No foom". Problem solved.

Why is this such a big deal? It doesn't change the outcome of the game. It's trivial, and life is too short to complain about trivial things. The only reason they get mad is because they let it get to them.
redheaded stepchild wrote:Last but not least: Silver Creek could actually care about what their paying customers have to say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is true, the upgrades are lacking. But looking at it from a business prespective, we got what we paid for. They have to run servers which cost them monthly. Do they charge us monthly? Exactly. The more money they make, the more they can pay people to create these features. So if you really want new features so badly, go recruit new players. :)

So because Silvercreek did a poor job in setting a price point and now have a inferior euchre site it is my fault. How about this: had Silvercreek responded to the complaints of its customers maybe I would be more willing to pony up more money. 3+ years of nothing but rhetoric is not gonna make me shell out more money. Many of the changes require little programming changes. Give us a good product and I will pay for it and tell people about it. Give me an inferior product and then do nothing about and you get declining purchases and an unhappy customer base.

My suggestion of having the the no foom and no talk option is for those times when I just wanna play a quick game . I am fully aware on how to disable these functions. What it doesnt do is prevent the other players from using those features and slowing the game down. There are many times I just wanna play and not be slowed down by the njp, ntp, nep that happens after every card is thrown or the multiple fooms that occur after someone gets one point. Someone times I just wanna play and think these would be nice features when hosting a game. Just becuase your dont agree doesnt mean they are invaild issues but I do appreciate your unsolicited opinion.

U r too literal Sailing_Away

Here is the full poem.....

One fine day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,

One was blind and the other couldn't, see
So they chose a dummy for a referee.
A blind man went to see fair play,
A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"
A paralysed donkey passing by,
Kicked the blind man in the eye,
Knocked him through a nine inch wall,
Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,

A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And drew his gun and stabbed the boys,
If you don't believe this story’s true,
Ask the blind man he saw it too!

Amazing simply amazing, If it werent for Jonas or the staff that creates these games we all would have to go play on yahoo or some other unfun room. The evolution of this whole mecca of games wouldn't be here and you all seem to want to bash the guy at the top.

I love echure just as much as I do hearts or spades, etc. I would love to see new upgrades when they are available. When HW has new versions ready trust me it will be available and it will work. Until that day we still have echure and it's still a nice version and I have no complaints about echure.

So when they are ready to provide the newest echure version trust me you will get it, infact probably you guys are on the top of the list to get a email about it.

I also want to see HW bridge and others, and I have submitted a request, will it happen only time will tell. But I'm not going to bash someone flat out. I understand frustration but simply bashing and running over jonas is not the way to go. I mean what if he decided to close up shop and end this whole universe, then we be back where we were 10 years ago on yahoo.

Please note, I'm not bashing any one of you. I consider you all friends and want to have fun and respect to all. This is just a observation if you want something done, go about things in a respectful and positive manner. Results will be better!!!

Thanks,

So give me an example of when sitting patiently has brought about a change on the euchre side of things. I will go one step farther and be willing to make a bet that you cant even come up with one legitimate enhancement. Havent you ever heard of the phrase "the customer is always right". People have nicely begged for simple enhancements for over 3 years and all Jonas does is give us the deer in headlights look. I dont mean to be disrespectfult to you but if the polyanna approach worked dont you think it would have done some good. I dont know how long you have played here but there are things that can be overlooked. The participation at the Euchre side is down, way down. It is also a fact that Jonas and Silvercreek are unresponsive, uncaring and/or incapable of now putting out a quality product. So why should that deserve of them receiving the kid glove treatment. They set a poor price point and now have an outdated product for which they do not care to fix, Call a spade a spade. I can even go far as to tell you waht Jonas will say if he even bothers to respond to these recent posts. Are you ready...... in my best Jonas vocie " I can certainly appreciate your frustration but trust me when I say we are working hard to make Hardwood Euchre even better. I wish these changes could have been implemented sooner. Please be patient while we are working on these changes," Guess what, he said that 3 years ago!!!!!!!!!

So let me try this. Jonas I want to make a bet with you. I bet you cant get 7up in place by 10/1/2010. Keep in mind you have had 3 years already. if I win you give me back the price I paid for the HW Euchre. If you won I will never post on these forums again and I will even purchase one other game. Do we have bet????

The customer is always right, however the customer doesnt run the company. You are free to do whatever you want stay or leave. From a company standpoint they would want you to stay. From your standpoint the only way to make that happen is to keep your interest and provide a new edition. I have been a member for a while, the curren euchre version works fine. I enjoy it and have no complaints. would I like to see new eiditions that resemble hearts and new enchancements yes. Will it happen anytime soon hopefully, if not when it is I will be happy when it does.

I play hearts, spades, euchre, backgammon. I would like to see the creation of HW bridge and pinochle only time will tell if they create it.

most of the time i play with respectable players and have great compeititve games and most importantly have fun and takes my mind off my current life when things are crazy. Thats the whole purpose of silver creek.

Do you have friends that you play cards with? how many times have you come home from work or a hectic day and you want to unwind and relax and getaway from a nutty day. When those days happen HW will always be at your fingertips.

you may be frustrated, you may not be paitent 3 years waiting for something is a legitimate wait to be frustrated. However, the games sill go on and work and will continue to. When jonas is ready to release new games, versions etc trust me we will know about it. Will it happen this year or 5 years from now that is his decision when to release a product. Until then bottom line the customers have a right to do what they wish play or not play.

thanks,
Lou
