Montana Buffalo Hunt

Post by Primal Instincts » Tue Dec 02, 2008 1:32 pm

Just got back from The Flying D Ranch in Montana near Bozeman for a Buffalo hunt.....Myself.....my two brothers and my brother inlaw......we were all successful with one shot apiece....and we have more delicious meat than we can handle let me tell ya..........

Pics will follow as soon as we have the meat processed......we did the backstraps....tenderloins and rib sections ourselves......the processor has the two front quarters and two hind quarters........my freezer is almost full without those....I ground 53 pounds of burger just from HALF a rib section.......FLINSTONE RIBS.....HEH!

I will have some for a very long time Grandma lol......and I will bring some if I head over that way......never had a whole buffalo before......kinda overwhelmed at the amount of meat I will have.......took 38 pounds of scraps from the ribs in today and having 25 pounds of summer sausage and 25 pounds of pepperoni made.....that makes 91 pounds of scraps just from the ribs.......the other 53 went into burger......may have to buy another freezer for the quarters.... :shock:

Um does anyone else notice the woman doin all the work??

I hate that when they bring something home. especially that big.. flop it on the table, their job is done and now its all yours to clean and cook. :?

Im just kidding with ya, looks like you hung it up instead of flopping it on the table, and more than that youre sending it out for processing.. youre a good man.

seriously tho, That looks like a lot of work, but well worth the trophy hyde and your plans for the skull are awesome.. congrats again! well done.

<snip.. keepin it manly>

Flesh eating beetles will be taking care of the skull......cut up the rib section myself and the backstrap and tenderloins...Snooz wrapped it......took almost 9 hours for that alone.....but its all wrapped and made into steaks and burger.......and ribs and sausage and pepperoni....I will be getting the quarters back in about 10 days.....anybody wanna help me finish off the elk and deer I have in another freezer.......and the pheasants.....A snow goose hunt is next........ 8)

Speaking of Buffalo.... what's so tragic about 6 Sabres fans going over a cliff in a Monte Carlo?
