Where in the site rules??

Post by joss42 » Mon May 22, 2006 11:08 am

A forum is not a site rules, i would like read black on white the rule of no other english langage permitted in the game room on silvercreek.com because its the home page.

Everyone take a decision on a forum and we dont know who is them and its not very ''professionnel''.
Some people tell you its legal to do that i'm not the only one to think its not legal.
Why you have delete the americain convention? I hope for you its not because i have right.
You want all the world on your game? Please respect there maternel langage its the least of the think...

The forum helps 'clarify' the sites rules though. Basically it's been discussed in this thread and that's why Jason pointed you here from the other thread.

He can have someone make a bind for him stating he does not speak English and that's why he's not speaking.

If they try to work it out ahead of time, as has been said, they will determine that they don't speak the same language BEFORE they start the game. Even if they don't have a bind in English, if someone is typing in Spanish I'll understand right away they are going to speak Spanish. If that's a problem I have the option of leaving. I wouldn't leave, but others may. All they ask is that you get it out in the open before the game starts.

If you don't tell people ahead of time it has the smell of cheating. Again, a simple bind can work just fine.

I know this is the ultimate sin to some, but you could just play silently. (gasp!)

Fooming speaks in all languages and if the opponent never says a word it doesn't bother me. I guess thats not really the point, however.

Well I decided to post on this primarily cause english is not my native language.
My whole family is on this site and we generally and most often speak english just cause of other players. In a game we never talk in croatian cause we wouldnt like someone talking spanish in the game and u will always be suspicios if they are cheating.
However sometimes when I see some of my family members in lobby we speak croatian cause its easier. Sometimes I just cant find a suitable word or a sentance to describe somehting in english so I use croatian. Same with my sis and dad (he speaks english but has troubles with spelling).
I must say most of the people are fine with that. But yes we had some problems with a few players on euchre saying stuff like: this is america speak english. I dont mind that cause I can ignore them. But a few times we had the same guide situation, when guide told us we must speak english. I asked if I am not allowed to speak in my native language? I just got a warning that if I proceed I will be silenced. I told them they if he/she thinks I am talking stuff that I shouldnt she is free to check it out with a translator or something, I dont mind at all. I even told her what I was talking about.
Later on another guide told me its ok. I dont mind Babel or any other translator to be used with us, but please if we dont talk croatian at the table cause of u guys, why do we bother u when we talk in lobby?

I have to admit that I rarely chat in game and mostly use fooms instead. As you say, it's the same in any language.

I have always allowed non-english in my games, I don't have a problem with that and will not report players. I can tell by your playing if you are cheating and if you are, I will finish the game (maybe quit depending how annoyed I am) and never play with you again. Is the situation more serious than that??? God no. It's a card game, JUST a game....

Amalthea,

If a guide is telling you that in the lobby, thats not cool and I need to know. This rule applies to games only. As long as your not spamming you can speak Klingon to everyone in the lobby for all we care.

The rule is just a basic, common sense politeness thing. You don't go into someones house and help yourself to the fridge. If you ask first thats fine, but you need to ask.

I also rarely speak more than a few lines in a game if that. I use a translator many times and the key here is to respect each other when it comes to a language barrier.

Also my frig is boobbytrapped.... have kids and things are not always put back how they should be.... raid da frig at your own risk.

JUST DUST
TO BE OR NOT TO BE..... NOW WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT??? TO BE OF COURSE!!!!!
