Hardwood Hearts v2 beta update. 5/24/12

Post by Jonas » Thu May 24, 2012 6:37 pm

Heya folks, we need some folks to download the next updates for our version 2 games.

Changes:
  • You can now use Facebook to connect to the Windows version. We've had that in the mobile versions.
  • UI changes to support touch. So if anyone has a windows tablet, and wants to test that aspect, that would be great.
  • Improved memory usage.
So check it out, let us know if you are having any problems or somethings wonky. Thanks!

If something glitchy is happening visually, click on the title bar of the game, and choose "bug report"

Thanks!

Things I noticed.....

WOW!!! My cards are HUGE!!! If this was intentional from people's earlier reports that their cards were hard to see, guess this resolves that issue. I can get use to it, though probably there is a sweet spot where the cards are larger than before but not as big as they are in this beta.

Also noticed my options are gone for selecting to auto-play if there is only one valid play for the trick (as well as the other options normally found when you view the game settings on the right hand tab). Maybe this is something not included in the beta but planned to be restored for the final release?

That's all I noticed, other than the graphics seem to be smoother.

Emoticon panel doesn't paint well... gap between the pictures and the slider.

Also, smoking emoticon is missing, though others see it when I type :-Y I can't.

A "like"..... I like how the cards fill and center in my hand as the hand plays on.

A "bug".... a normal room with no special join restrictions had a player leave, and it showed up as not being eligible for me to join it. There was no minimum rating, and it was set for "anyone" to join (not even the V rating though I definitely qualify even if it did).

No "view profile" option exists when I click on the player ... only the "view web profile" option.

A "bug".... when you leave a game, the player rankings are displayed at the bottom of the screen. That's a nice feature, but when you go into a new game, the scores stay there and it makes it hard to see the bottom part of the table. I notice this when I go into a game as a watcher anyway.

Found the "auto queue" feature now under the new icon called "quick" in the top left, so this negates one of the things I provided feedback on.

Basically everything is bigger . . .a little too much to my liking! Can't open chatt or place last trick windows anywhere without hiding something else.

you DO know you can split the 'last' and 'pass' boxes? I have them up the top left for the Pass box, above the left avatar, and the right side above the right avatar, I have the 'last' box.
That way it isnt covering the points of any of the players. :D

I just tried it, and I agree, with the size of the cards, it doesn't leave much room even when i squish the window down as narrow as i can. :?
I put the narrow window above the avatar at the top, you can just see his points, if you didn't need to see his avatar, try it that way.
I can read the lobby doing it like that.

If there isn't a sweet spot where the cards are bigger but not this big, maybe they can make it an option for those who are visually impaired to use larger cards, but allow us the option of keeping the cards their current size.

That option exists in version 1 so therfore, quite possible. In version 1 there also is an option for table position which also helps allot cause it makes room when positioned at the bottom right side.

I've been trying to reproduce this problem but haven't been able to. What are the exact steps you do that makes this happen?
