Using the invite button to harass people
Using the invite button to harass people

Please ask for a guide to assist you on this until something else can be done.

Re: Using the invite button to harass people
Seems there is a bug if you can get the server to respond that you are ignoring invite boxes and yet they keep coming and coming.
My concern about asking for a guide is what can a guide do about this? A guide can't stop someone from sending game invites. The player is at the mercy of this harassing SOB. And then if you continue to complain about it.... <silenced>.

Re: Using the invite button to harass people
The only thing we can do is try to express how this is effecting others and maybe a limit of how many invites to any one particular game will result, thereby... maybe reducing this kind of issue....

I think this idea was already posted to IdeaScale. Keep the comments coming there.

Re: Using the invite button to harass people
I agree with removing the invite button, it is used more to harrass than anything else.

Re: Using the invite button to harass people
Probably the most pointless option since cut deck.
People just press the invite button whether people are qualified to play in their game or not.

Re: Using the invite button to harass people
I'll take a stand against the direction this has taken. I find the invite button very useful in tourney if I am setting a room and the players the host called are not paying attention by inviting the players who are supposed to join me. It makes it easy for them to wake up and join the correct room.
Seems if SCE just puts limits on the number of invites one can make to a specific player as we discussed earlier, its use as a way to harass people is eliminated without having to remove a function that actually DOES have a purpose and benefit.

Re: Using the invite button to harass people
I also like the invite button but limiting how many times a player can invite an individual would be a great fix here.

Re: Using the invite button to harass people
Here's a thought (for Dan and Jonas) on this... Some of these ideas are obviously easier than others to implement.
1. ) As suggested by many others, invite limit should be 1 per game per invitee. No need for more.
2. ) Block all invites of player that cannot enter game anyway. This eliminates all inviting that cannot be accepted... for example, inviting a 1450 player to a 1550 game, or an unrated player to a rated game.
3.) Lobby menu option to ignore invites that survives logout/login. (separate from regular ignore invite, which by default would remain session limited)
4. ) IMPORTANT (with or without any of the above): We must notify the inviter that the invitee is ignoring invites!. Otherwise we have a broken handshake. Legitimate inviters (eg Sailing_Away in tourney) will know invite has not been received; and at the same time, if a spamming social-game inviter invites someone once and gets the "invites-blocked" message, they will be less likely to continue repeating over and over.

90% of problems and dilemmas are laughably insignificant when put into perspective.

Re: Using the invite button to harass people
About anything would be a improvement, I know some that invite to a full ongoing game just to annoy. I auto ignore invites when I log on but the server disconnects me so many times a day that when I get back on I forget to ignore invites and get assaulted then.
